Συνήθως η διαδικασία πάει ως εξής. Ένα μέσο που γράφει για την τεχνολογία βλέπει την ανακοίνωση ενός νέου προϊόντος, στη συνέχεια επικοινωνεί με αυτούς που έχουν αναλάβει τις δημόσιες σχέσεις και ζητάει να του στείλουν ένα μοντέλο για δοκιμή. Το δοκιμάζει για μερικές μέρες και γράφει την άποψη του. Έτσι γίνεται συνήθως ένα review.
Υπάρχει βέβαια όπως φαίνεται και μια άλλη περίπτωση, κάπως περίεργη. Να κάνει η εταιρεία μόνη της το review. Του προϊόντος της. Αυτό μπορεί να ξεκινάει κάπως έτσι:
This time last week, I was lucky enough to take delivery of the new Nokia Lumia 620 – Nokia’s latest, and most affordable, Windows Phone 8 smartphone. [...]
Like a kid on Christmas morning, I grabbed the delivery bag, tore it open and glanced at the contents – a blue box with the words “Nokia Lumia 620” printed on it.
Το παραπάνω απόσπασμα είναι από ένα review που έκανε ένας υπάλληλος της Nokia για ένα προϊόν της Nokia μέσα από ένα blog της Nokia.
Υποτίθεται πως όταν ένας καταναλωτής διαβάζει ένα τέτοιο κείμενο, θέλει να μάθει λεπτομέρειες τόσο για τα πλεονεκτήματα, όσο και για τα μειονεκτήματα της συσκευής. Μάντεψε πόσα μειονεκτήματα έχει το Lumia 620 σύμφωνα με το συγκεκριμένο review: μηδέν.

Ο Adam Fraser παίρνει κάθε μήνα το μισθό του από τη Nokia, αλλά αυτό δεν έχει ιδιαίτερη σημασία, αφού το review είναι καθόλα υποκειμενικό. Ας δούμε μερικά ακόμα αποσπάσματα από το κείμενο.

However, the 5-megapixel camera does take a great photo, as you can see below. The tube lighting in the office wasn’t ideal, so I auto fixed it using the built-in tools with just a click.
Για τον επεξεργαστή και τη RAM:
You’d be mistaken in thinking that because a device has 512MB of RAM, it would run slowly and you’d experience a certain amount of lag. However, this isn’t the case.
The dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon CPU does a fantastic job at keeping everything running as smooth as any other – more expensive – smartphone.
