Ο Λόγος του Βασιλιά είχε κάνει δυναμικό come back και μετά τα BAFTA η ταινία του Tom Hooper ήταν ο μεγάλος νικητής και των Όσκαρ. Καλύτερη Ταινία, Καλύτερη Σκηνοθεσία, Βραβείο Α Ανδρικού Ρόλου για τον Colin Firth και Βραβείο Καλύτερου Σεναρίου για τον David Seidler, ήταν ο απολογισμός της ταινίας.Αναμενόμενα τα αποτελέσματα λοιπόν, με την Natalie Portman, που δεν έχει αφήσει βραβείο για βραβείο φέτος να παίρνει το Όσκαρ Α Γυναικείου Ρόλου για το Black Swan και τους Christian Bale και Melissa Leo του The Fighter τα Όσκαρ Β Ανδρικού και Γυναικείου Ρόλου αντίστοιχα.
Τρία Όσκαρ κατάφερε να αποσπάσει τελικά και το The Social Network (Διασκευασμένου Σεναρίου, Μοντάζ, Μουσικής), τέσσερα το Inception σε τεχνικές κατηγορίες, ενώ και το Toy Story 3 χωρίς δυνατό αντίπαλο απέσπασε το Όσκαρ Καλύτερης Ταινίας Κινουμένων Σχεδίων. Η Αλίκη στην Χώρα των Θαυμάτων του Tim Burton απέσπασε επίσης δύο βραβεία.
Ο Γιώργος Λάνθιμος και ο Κυνόδοντας δεν τα κατάφεραν τελικά και το In a Better World από την Δανία πήρε το Όσκαρ Ξενόγλωσσης Ταινίας.
